This session will showcase innovative strategies to engage students in school libraries through afterschool activities, book vending machines, and makerspaces. Teachers and librarians will discover how these resources can promote literacy by encouraging independent reading, creative writing, and collaborative problem-solving. Participants will explore how afterschool activities can enhance comprehension and communication skills, book vending machines can foster a love for reading, and makerspaces can provide opportunities for project-based learning that aligns with ELA and ISTE standards. Attendees will leave with practical ideas to create a literacy-rich environment that enhances student achievement.
