This interactive session is designed to empower secondary educators by combining the principles of the Science of Reading (SOR) with cutting-edge AI tools to support literacy instruction. Participants will actively engage in hands-on exploration, collaborative strategy-building, and reflective discussions to better understand how AI can enhance phonemic awareness, decoding, and reading comprehension for adolescent learners. Through the use of free AI tools such as ReadTheory, ChatGPT, School AI, Microsoft Reading Progress, and Immersive Reader, participants will leave with practical strategies that can be immediately implemented in their classrooms.
This session goes beyond explaining what AI is and how educators can use it. Instead, it focuses on giving students hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences with AI at each grade band. Aligned with North Carolina DPI AI guidelines and ISTE standards, this interactive session will provide teachers with practical strategies for integrating AI into K-12 classrooms. Participants will explore age-specific examples, from engaging AI-driven storytelling apps in K-5 to data analysis projects for grades 6-8, and personalized learning pathways for grades 9-12. Educators will leave with a clear understanding of how to introduce AI concepts that are ethical, effective, and relevant to students' learning needs, equipping them with real-world skills for an AI-driven future.
In today's diverse classrooms, one of the greatest challenges for educators is meeting the varied needs of their students. With learners demonstrating a range of abilities, interests, and learning styles, the demand for personalized and differentiated instruction is greater than ever. Teachers must juggle the responsibility of supporting students who require additional help while simultaneously challenging those who are ready to advance beyond their current grade level. In this session, we will explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be leveraged to support differentiation by providing personalized learning pathways that meet the needs of all students.
Are you seeking innovative ways to meet the diverse needs of your students? Discover how AI-powered tools can help you layer your lessons to create differentiated instructional resources aligned with Universal Design for Learning. Explore strategies to save time and develop personalized learning pathways that empower your students to learn at their own pace. We'll explore practical AI tools like Diffit, ChatGPT Live Translation, Snorkl, Curipod, MagicSchool, and Eduaide. Join us to add rich layers to your teaching and gain classroom-ready resources you can start using right away.
In this interactive session, discover how Curipod can revolutionize your teaching or library programs. We’ll dive into Curipod's time-saving AI-powered features designed to engage students and enhance learning experiences, and highlight easy customization options to align with your educational standards. Join us to learn how Curipod can transform your lesson planning and classroom management, fostering a more interactive and effective learning environment.
Join us for a Mardi Gras-themed session on transforming ELA classrooms with technology. We’ll introduce GrooveLit, an AI-powered tool for vocabulary mastery, which includes Latin and Greek roots, and helps students make meaningful cross-subject connections. Additionally, we’ll explore other AI tools that support writing development through targeted feedback, supporting global competencies and portrait of a graduate. Through these resources, teachers can foster critical thinking, digital literacy, and creativity, empowering students to succeed in an interconnected world.
In this interactive session, we’ll explore how to introduce AI concepts to K-1 students through storytelling and image creation. Participants will engage in hands-on activities using AI chatbots to create stories and generate images, learning how to make these tools both fun and educational. By the end, you’ll have practical tips for incorporating AI into your classroom, along with strategies for managing young students’ use of this exciting technology.
This session will introduce you to the exciting world of artificial intelligence (AI). This is meant to show you how to explain AI to your students. We will begin with the basics of AI and what it means to be AI literate. Then, we will dive into machine learning and discuss how AI is used in various applications. We will also discuss the ethical considerations surrounding AI development and use, including bias and responsible use. By the end of this session, you will better understand AI and its potential impact on our lives.
Join us as we share our collaborative journey between Hilburn PreK-12 Academy teachers, an NC State University research scholar, and students in creating an interdisciplinary curriculum on Responsible AI and Tech Justice. Discover how we engaged students in critical discussions on AI ethics and digital citizenship, and explore practical insights for integrating these principles into your own teaching practice.
AI chatbots are everywhere, and many students will use one for assignments. Just like calculators in the 1970s, AI can enhance learning but also be misused. This workshop will help teachers guide students in using AI responsibly, focusing on critical thinking, creativity, and ethical usage. We'll cover how AI can support learning, from generating ideas to scientific modeling, and offer hands-on experience with AI tools. By setting clear limits, teachers can help students use AI effectively and ethically.
