Join us for a Mardi Gras-themed session on transforming ELA classrooms with technology. We’ll introduce GrooveLit, an AI-powered tool for vocabulary mastery, which includes Latin and Greek roots, and helps students make meaningful cross-subject connections. Additionally, we’ll explore other AI tools that support writing development through targeted feedback, supporting global competencies and portrait of a graduate. Through these resources, teachers can foster critical thinking, digital literacy, and creativity, empowering students to succeed in an interconnected world.
In this interactive session, we’ll explore how to introduce AI concepts to K-1 students through storytelling and image creation. Participants will engage in hands-on activities using AI chatbots to create stories and generate images, learning how to make these tools both fun and educational. By the end, you’ll have practical tips for incorporating AI into your classroom, along with strategies for managing young students’ use of this exciting technology.
This session will introduce you to the exciting world of artificial intelligence (AI). This is meant to show you how to explain AI to your students. We will begin with the basics of AI and what it means to be AI literate. Then, we will dive into machine learning and discuss how AI is used in various applications. We will also discuss the ethical considerations surrounding AI development and use, including bias and responsible use. By the end of this session, you will better understand AI and its potential impact on our lives.
Join us as we share our collaborative journey between Hilburn PreK-12 Academy teachers, an NC State University research scholar, and students in creating an interdisciplinary curriculum on Responsible AI and Tech Justice. Discover how we engaged students in critical discussions on AI ethics and digital citizenship, and explore practical insights for integrating these principles into your own teaching practice.
AI chatbots are everywhere, and many students will use one for assignments. Just like calculators in the 1970s, AI can enhance learning but also be misused. This workshop will help teachers guide students in using AI responsibly, focusing on critical thinking, creativity, and ethical usage. We'll cover how AI can support learning, from generating ideas to scientific modeling, and offer hands-on experience with AI tools. By setting clear limits, teachers can help students use AI effectively and ethically.
